Lyn and Me Just a few weeks after my first Mt. Arayat Traverse, nasundan kaagad eto. This time I'm with my 2 former akyat buddies, the last time we climbed together noong nagMt. Cristobal pa, sobrang tagal na noon. I led the group paakyat since fresh pa sa isipan ko ang trail. We left Manila around 3.30am para magkapagstart ng maaga since we wanted na by the time magtraverse na kami around 11:00am - 12:00pm namin gawin to avoid to much exposure sa araw, iba na kasi ang temperature nowadays, sobrang init. Luckily, hinatid kami mismo ng Bus sa SM San Fernando, then hired a tricycle going to Jump off point (Bgry, Ayala, Magalang). This time hindi na ako nakipaghaggle ng price kasi when the driver asked for PhP 400.00 na fare, I said fair enough since 400.00 din naman yung hiningi sa amin noong unang climb ko. To the left, papuntang Police Station Madilim pa noong narating namin ang Jump Off point, good thing nagdala si Anlyn ng "malaking" lamp because Thyrone and I forgot to bring our headlamps. (tsk tsk tsk) The usual, kailangan magregister sa may Police Station, unluckily we need to call their attention para magising sila..... mga 20 mins din kami naghintay para magising sila. By the way, hindi na kami kumuha ng guide (dahil sa mga reasons 1. dahil hindi na kami dumaan sa Brgy. Hall 2. Brgy. Hall opens around 8:00am 3. Fresh pa naman sa akin ang trail going up kaya ako nalang ang Guide sa group) This time malaki na ang progress ng mga "Stations of the Cross". I think hindi nila eto mahabol for this year's lent since marami pang major construction. During the first 2 hours ng hike, marami kami nakasabay sa daan (cemented pavements), may mga nagjojog at nagbibike. We had our breakfast sa trail na din. For documentation purposes, this time pinuntahan ko yung namention ko sa first Arayat climb ko na water source. Nakahose eto at sobrang lamig ang tubig....... sad to say ginagawang paliguan ang area ang trash were visible sa lugar (sachet ng shampoo, wrapper ng soap, plastics, etc.) What I like about hiking to Mt. Arayat's summit is the cool, fresh, forest air. By the time na papasok na sa forested area, sobrang lamig ng hangin, by the time na uupo sa mga boulders ang lamig din ng mga eto. Take 5 muna sa area just below the white rock para maexperience nila ang tranquil moment. Ang part din na to may isang malaking puno na nakapatong sa isang malaking bato. This time i had the chance na magpapicture doon. We met several mountaineers when we reached white rock. Pababa na sila noong time na yun and did not bother to traverse Arayat dahil sa "rumor" na mahirap ang trail. We had our lunch sa summit, kunting idlip then PhoToOps and around quarter to 1:00pm we started the traverse. I remembered Mam Andrea nung last na akyat namin dito, she had this construction gloves (the one coated with orange latex) bumili ako neto dahil alam ko may kunting gapangan moments ang traverse and indeed sobrang helpful eto. Easy grasp plus hindi pa sakit sa kamay. Si Lynn had some diffulty going down sa may "Rock Tower" portion. I let the Thyrone and Anlynn savor the moment, took few shoots sa kanila then rested ng medyo mahaba haba while planning sa next na akyat. View deck shotsFrom View Deck / Camp site, the trail goes non stop na pababa. Nagiging cause kung bakit babagal ang pacing kasi everyone needs to be extra careful para hindi maslide or gumulong gulong...... I just wander, the first time na akyat ko tinakbo namin to....hahahaha.
Almost 5:00pm when we completed the Mt. Arayat - Traverse. Success for the three of us specially kay Anlynn na minsan lang nakakasama sa mga akyat ng bundok. This time, hindi ko na dinala ang dalawa sa SOGO para magwash up, sa may barangay merong resort. Dahil ayaw namin magbasa ng damit, we asked the store owner sa loob ng resort if pwede makiligo sa restroom nila for a fee. Pumayag naman si Ate for PhP 5.00 each. We're all set, then we rented a tricycle (PhP 60.00 for 3)and nagpahatid sa may palengke then sakay ng multicab going to SM San Fernando. Note: Maraming humihinto na bus sa SM para pipick up ng pasahero pero ang mga bus (such us Victory Liner) going to Cubao ay hanggang 9:00pm lang. If incase you missed the last bus (Bound for Cubao) na hihinto sa SM. You need to go to the Victory Liner Bus terminal para maghintay ng mga dadaan dito. Unluckily, it was Sunday and we missed the last 9:00pm bus sa SM kaya doon na kami naghintay sa terminal ng Victory. Unfortunate event took place..... from Pampanga to Manila nakatayo ako dahil punoan at marami ang nagsiuwian. Next time plan accordingly na hindi mamissed ang Bus nadadaan ng SM.
