This peak is one to the most prominent peaks within Mariveles and became the venue for my last training climb before Mt. Matalingajan. Reaching the jump off can be a hassle if you do not have a private vehicle. From Manila, ride a bus going to Balanga, Bataan then ride another bus going to Bagac. As far as I can remember, scheduled first trip for buses going to Bagac is around 5:00am and reaching Bagac Frienship Tower will consume for about 2hours travel. Then a hired tricycle is needed to reach the Jumpoff, “Gabon” Sitio Duhatan, Brgy. Saysain. Reaching Pantingan peak requires patience and lots of it due to its full ascent 'til summit . The entire hike will cover mostly inside a forested area (for now). Two open grassland trail with cogon grasses taller than human, perfect for playing hide and go seek. Unfortunately, from time to time we saw trees cut and logs on the side. As our guide said, those were illegally cut but for me legal or not, it was a sad reality that people need to cut those trees without replacing them. Pantingan's summit is not that wide though and if your climb is blessed with good weather, one can see the entire caldera rim and the rest of the prominent peaks along the range. This peak may be considered as minor climb but again never underestimate it because the assault trail will really test your endurance, and don't forget the limatiks awaits. Pictures....
