The revenge........ After months from our failed attempt This time few PACKERS joined the climb. Usual route from Manila to Rizal, where our hired jeepney was waiting for us. It was a bumpy ride all the way and passed 7-8 rivers before reaching Brgy. Sta. Inez. Secured guide, register and courtesy call to Brgy. Captain and Military Personnel were the SOPs when climbing Mt. Irid. The trek started around 7:00 am and crossed several rivers when our guide suggested to climb a mountain to bypass the last river cross where the current was too strong. Without hesitation and for the safety of the team, we scrambled all the way up to a no name mountain...... Unluckily, the soil was too loose at that time because of the rain that took place a few hours before our trek. So balancing on a slope was our main concern, heavy backpacks, eroded soil and limatiks... not just LIMAtiks.. MARAMITIKS. Mt. Tukduan Banoi We got one casualty during our ascent to our base camp. Mam Leone, lost her balance during the mini river cross and injured her foot. Bruised and swollen ankle slowed her down but luckily she was able to reach the based camp. We got exhausted during the entire trek just to bypass the last river, our team lead Sir Ace opted to call it a day instead. We need all the energy for Mt. Irid on the second day thus aborting Mt. Tukduan Banoi instead. Mt. Irid's Summit The rest of the day was purely socials then day 2 came. Mam Leone decided not to join the said climb while Sir Dell opted to join her, sir Julius also requested not to join because of the pain he felt on his knee (got injured during G2 Dayhike) while the rest of the team all set for the climb. The trail was muddy, slippery and had a few limatik invasion from time to time. Passing through forested area, several slopes and Cogon-covered trail we reached the summit at around 11:00am. The summit has this huge rock formation which is by the way infested with green limatiks. Got no clearing at that time however the team was satisfied that despite the rain and muddy trail we were able to reach the summit. Rain came pouring during descent which makes the trail more challenging. Few hours passed we reached the based camp soaking wet. Mam Leone, Sir Julius and Dell left the camp already and made advance trek going back to Bgry. Sta. Inez. When everyone was set for final descent, our guide opted to chose the river trail instead of using the trail we took on day 1. We crossed the river where usually few climbers got washed away during strong current. Around 7:00pm we reached Brgy. Sta. Inez......Tired yet fulfilled we had our final clean up before heading back to Manila. Though our original IT was to conquer Mt. Tukduan Banoi and Mt. Irid, well.. the safety of every member is our primary concern thus aborting one mountain was our option.... It was a challenging, fun-filled climb..... especially to Mam Gia, its her first time to climb a mountain...... she loved it and planned to climb more mountains... (As of this writing.... she just finished Mt. Pulag Amba-Amba Trail...... not bad eh! Sidetrip: Kinabuan Falls
