The Group I got a message from Lynn, asking kung anong magandang bundok na akyatin dahil meron siyang ka officemate na mahilig din umakyat. I suggested Mt. Batulao, Mt. Talamitam and Mt. Marami kaya sobrang naexcite ako when Lynn and his colleague agreed to climb the said mountain. 10 kami in all and majority ng group ay kaofficemate ni Lynn, Thyrone brought his friend and sinama ko naman si Robbie. New set of friends new possible hiking friends in the future. We met around 3.30am sa McDo Baclaran, from there we hired a jeepney going to DENR ng Ternate Cavite for 3,500.00 (Punta at Balik Manila). The group was excited at halong takot since majority ay first timers sa hiking. When we reached DENR, we registered and paid 20.00 per head para sa registration then we headed to the jump off. The trail was not that hard, gradual walk lang. Mapuno ang area since the entire area is under Protection ng DENR and logging is prohibited so hindi bilad sa araw while hiking. This way to Pico de Loro" with arrow signs. Trail Pics We reached the base camp ng mga 10:00am. Nagpahinga muna then we had our crazy Photo Ops with Pico de Loro's Summit and the Beak as our background. Campsite Pumasok na kami ulet sa may camp site (bamboo covered area) for our early lunch then we're off to the summit. Good thing na may napagiwanan kami ng gamit sa camp para easy trek going up nalang kami. From Camp site assault na eto, parang same scenario sa Mt. Arayat ang akyat (The traverse trail ng Arayat). Nakakapagod and you need to be extra careful kasi madulas at medyo loose ang soil. Reaching the summit was rewarding..... but wait there's more, if you have the guts... reaching the Parrot's beak is the best part sa climb na to. It was a clear sunny day kaya ang sarap sa summit tumambay. Summit Shots Sir RJ decided not to push thru na akyatin ang monolith kasi he never climbed it na walang rope while Mam Genetess opted to stay sa summit due to fear of heights specially passing the connected portion ng summit to the monolith. Mark was able to pass thru the "delikado" area without any problem, well katawan wise slim si Mark kaya mabilis lang at magaan sya. I followed next, yes indeed mahirap sya pero nageenjoy ako specially yung tipong rock climb. Thanks to my Makiling Rock climb experience nakayanan ko naman. When you reached the portion were it requires a rope and you got none, Lean sa wall, hug the wall... climb up paside view para mas makakagrab kayo sa mga cracks. Successfully, I was able to reach the upper portion and was able to note the possible spots for the others to hold on. One by one, we had our Photo Ops at ang saya ng feeling na naakyat eto. Going down will be the same process, hug the wall then pa slide ng kunti side ways. I went down first then assisted the rest with the same steps I took before. Success, lahat kami nakababa...complete! Monolith "Parrot's Beak" Shot
