Mt. Talamitam Nasugbu, Batangas Jump-off point: Sitio Bayabasan, Brgy. Aga, Nasugbu (KM. 83) LLA: 14.1158° N; 120.7577° N; 630 MASL Days required/ Hours to summit: 1 day / 2 hours Specs: Minor climb, Difficulty 3/9, Trail class 1-3 with steep assault (100m) (Source: www.pinoymountaineer.com) - Mt. Talamitam, name derive from Talamitam Trees used to grow on the area. Me, Grace, Franz, Justin This is a Sabit Climb. Sabit ako sa group nila Grace. Grace was a former office of mine, matagal na namin plan na umakyat noong nasa previous company pa ako, hindi nga lang mapush thru dahil hindi tumutugma schedule namin noon. She invited me sa akyat na to since matagal na din yong group nya hindi nakakaakyat ng bundok, kaso marami nagbackout kaya we ended up 4 ang natuloy. Grace, Franz, Justin and Me. Hindi ko masyado nadocument ang lakad na to kaya hindi magiging detailed ako.... hehehehe. tinding exposure sa araw Mt. Talamitam is sometimes called Sister mountain of Mt. Batulao dahil sa open-field type na trail. Clue na natin yan na maghanda ng pananga kay haring araw. We took a bus, yung terminal sa may MRT-Taft (Likod ng McDo), bound for Nasugbu, Batangas around 7.30am drop off point is KM 88. We paid 25 pesos each for registration. Since the four of us were new sa Mt. Talamitam, we hired a guide for 300.00. Registration After registration, pinakilala kami nung guide namin kay Sir Ted (caretaker ng Mt. Talamitam). He gave us a short orientation about sa area, on going ang reforestation sa area ang currently there are 800 seedlings planted and needs adequate water supply. What Sir Ted and his group does is, aside sa regular akyat nila para diligan ang mga seedlings, nagrerequest siya sa mga mountaineers na magdala ng water (mineral water na container). Bubutasan niya yung cap (serves as the sprinkler once squeezed) then he let the mountaineers left it sa taas. Nice idea, isn't it?! ang sumasayaw na bridge After the orientation, we headed back to the trail then started the trek. May bridge made of bamboo na icocross at sumasayaw eto. This bridge was installed after the original bridge was destroyed by Bagyong Undoy. First part ng trail ay may makikita ka pang mga puno sa area. After 20 mins or so open air. 100% exposed kay haring araw...... no wonder sunburn abot ko after ng akyat. From a far, makikita mo na ang summit, very green hindi dahil sa may puno kundi dahil sa cogon grasses. Yes indeed parang Batulao eto, dahil barren sa puno compared sa katabing bundok (closed trail) named: Ang Matandang Bundok. one time BIG time assault The trail was indeed tricky, although pwede ka naman gumawa ng sarili mong trail, which is not recommended, kaso ang dami kasing malulusotan which may lead to a lost track. According to our guide may ibang first timers na nagagawi sa kabilang bundok kasi mali ang nasusundan. 2 ways to reach the summit: One time big time assault (Short cut) and the long cut (iikot sa gilid ng bundok). We took the shortcut kasi mas ok eto paakyat rather pababa... about 20-25 mins kung mabilis ka at hindi mabigat ang dala mong backpack. may kunting 4 wheel drive pero hindi sya totally delikado. (just be extra careful, all climbs are delikado kung hindi ka magiingat). We reached the summit around 11:00am, from the top mas makikita mo ang 360 view ng area. Mt. Batulao and Mt. Pico de Loro can be seen from the summit. We took the "long cut" trail pababa then took our last Photo Ops background si Mt. Talamitam. Bumalik kami sa resort na pagmamay-ari ni Sir Ted, dito pwede ka maligo sa river sa baba pero we decided na maligo nalang sa restroom since we're all hungry na din. For 20.00 pesos sa paligo and 12 pesos per buko, solve na ang akyat na to. Last destination namin was Tagaytay for late lunch.... Bulalo...slurrpp.. My Mt. Talamitam climb was indeed a fun-filled climb, although it was a short trek yet it was a different experience. Thanks to Grays, Franz and Justin at pinasabit nila ako sa climb na to................ til next climb nyo, sasabit ako (sana walang malate sa susunod!) Note: Most mountaineers mas prefer nila magTwin Climb.... Mt. Batulao and Mt. Talamitam. Matry ko nga to.... one day
