O-Peak or Osmeña peak is the highest peak within Mantolongon mountain range. It is also the highest peak in the Province of Cebu, located at the "Summer Capital of Cebu" or "Little Baguio of The South" Brgy. Mantalongon. O-Peak can be reached by any hiking enthusiasts or for people who just wanted to witness the beauty. From Mantalongon-Dalaguete Junction, one can take habal-habal ride. Some hikers stops at the Mantalongon Public Market to buy supplies then hike for about 2-3 hours to summit however the habal habal can take you all the way to a junction then for about 20-30 minutes hike, you'll be at the summit. Yes! that's how easy the trek is. From the highest point, one can see multiple hills just like the chocolates hills in bohol however it has thinner and pointed, sharper peaks. These hills are all over the area stretching upto the shoreline of Badian. The temperature drops during the afternoon, and sometimes covered with fog. A wonderful 360 view awaits its visitor. Traversing to Kawasan falls usually takes 5 hours or more. Descending from the summit, take a left turn and look for a concrete road. This road will lead all hikers to a village, moving forward it will then lead you to mini forest then further a watersource can be found. Though the trails are well established and from time to time you'll meet locals however a guide should be hired though not mandatory but its the best option since their are several forks. The View - Traverse Side Reaching the falls requires a few decent. The first stop would be the "source" as they call it, the water is so calm here. Hikers need to cross the stream via bamboo raft (a fee is needed, 20 pesos at that time) then a concrete steps going down will lead you to the "Dam" then further down, "Unang Hulog" then further is the "Pangalawang Hulog". "Pangatlong Hulog" is the largest of the three cascading falls of Kawasan. Perfect for swimming, all three "Hulogs" has this greenish-bluish colored catch basin, such enchanting. Kawasan falls has become a tourist destination on this part of the Province, stores and few cottages were installed at "Pangatlong Hulog". The trails are well maintain, if you've been to Mother F! (falls) in Baler, same set up can be compared. The only difference is that from the highway all the way to the Source, concrete and well maintained path where installed for Kawasan Visitors. The place is clean, as well as the streams. Kawasan Falls, perfect reward for a hard earned O-Peak traverse.
